Note about trailer vulnerability to theft from Mike (Mary Lou Ct):

I’ve been noticing a lot of trailers that are left on the street or in a driveway that do not have locks on the tongues.  This is an open invitation for someone to steal them.  One should always put a padlock on the tongue, if it is not hooked up to a truck.  It would take about 15 seconds for someone to hook up and pull away with a trailer.  We did a camera survey for a guy who had his entire trailer (complete with camping and hunting equipment inside) stolen from his yard one night.  I don’t know how common this is, but most trailers I’ve seen have had a hole in the latch to put a padlock through to keep from opening or closing the latch, thus making it much more difficult to steal.
