Eva…My husband and neighbor were outside last night.  They kept seeing a vehicle circle our block (like 15 times).  They called the cops.  He was from Dallas and had warrants out and was arrested.  They even think he had drugs in his car.

400 marijuana plants seized in Arlington; value estimated at $2.6 million

Star-Telegram Staff Writer

ARLINGTON -- Federal agents confiscated more than 400 marijuana plants, worth an estimated $2.6 million, from a house in far south Arlington on Tuesday.

Law enforcement officers said the operation in the 4,000-square-foot home in the 8400 block of Redheart Street was sophisticated, using indoor grow lights and other mechanical devices to produce the illegal crop.

"In the past two years, our office has only come across something like this about twice a year," said Edward Van Patten, assistant special agent in charge of the Dallas Field Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Neighbors in the community, which is just north of the Arlington-Mansfield border, said they believed that something suspicious was going on in the home and that they very seldom saw anyone there.

A white Cadillac Escalade and a black Cadillac CTS were parked in the driveway at the time of the seizure. Neighbors said other "nice cars" were often seen driving up to the house then disappearing into the garage. The windows were usually closed and the blinds drawn, neighbors said.

By about 6 p.m. Tuesday, officers filled 10 30-gallon bags with marijuana plants, which were about three feet to six feet tall. Officials would not confirm whether any arrests were made, but neighbors said they saw two men being taken away in handcuffs earlier Tuesday afternoon.

The owner of the house is Kris B. Kelley, according to online Tarrant Appraisal District records. Attempts to contact Kelley were unsuccessful Tuesday.

MARIJUANA SEIZURE

Officials said the marijuana taken from a far south Arlington home Tuesday was grown hydroponically, about three times stronger than marijuana imported from Mexico and worth 10 times as much. Hydroponic systems allow plants to grow without soil; special lights simulate sunlight, and watering systems operate on timers.
